Wetlands Evolution Project at Lake Guyatt, Sale

6th December 2012

Year 7 panel of Wetlands Evolution - Sale College"Wetlands Evolution" is the title given to an artrwork celebrating life in wetlands. The artworks feature on 9 panels of a children's maze in the Lake Guyatt Environmental Children's Play Space in Sale. Each panel is the group work of a class of students from each of the 9 schools in Sale. The panels were completed by a spread of age groups encompassing grades prep to year 8. Artist, Ralph Eberlein, facilitated and finished the panels in collaboration with the students. The "Evolution" is in the drawings with prep, year 1, year 2.... year 9 students contributing panels. The results are fantastic and show our children's love of the creatures around them. Check them out for yourself! Wellington Shire Council, Subway Sale and Eagle Dreaming Cultural Services supported this project. An opening was held on site with local students reading from books they had published about biodiversity and their Bug Blitz experiences all whilst being accompanied by sale guitarist, Greg Laws. Kids also planted 100 native grasses at Lake Guyatt with the shire crew. Students rushed in to look at their panels when the maze was opened. It was a joyous celebration of biodiversity, sharing and art.
